Our choice for Pick-A-Park this week is a regional park just down the road from our Minards Leisure World location in Watrous, Saskatchewan. Manitou Regional Park is easy to find being only 125kms SE of Saskatoon and 165kms NW of Regina.
The camping season kick off begins May 1st and runs right through to Thanksgiving weekend. There’s plenty of space in this park to enjoy with over 200 sites – 108 of which are full service.
Kids and adults alike won’t have time to be bored with the huge array of activities available both within and nearby the park such as:
- Nine Hole (Grass Greens) Golf Course
- Bird Sanctuary
- Ball Diamonds
- Beach
- Beach Volleyball
- Boat & Docking facilities.
- Confectionary/Concessions
- Full Food Services
- Horseshoe Pits
- Mini Golf
- Laundry
- Tennis Courts
- Swimming Lessons
Additionally, you can enjoy a movie at one of five remaining drive in theatres in the province or add relaxation and pampering to your agenda at the largest indoor mineral spa in Canada.
One of the best reasons to visit the park is that it is located right beside Little Manitou Lake, often referred to as the “Dead Sea of Canada”. A natural wonder the water in Little Manitou Lake is high in sodium, magnesium, and potassium salts. The indigenous nations believed the lake had magical powers to heal the sick, and the Cree named it Manitou in honor of the Great Spirit. In fact, the salinity content is FIVE times higher than the ocean and creates buoyancy for its swimmers! Swimming and water sports is how most people enjoy the water at Manitou today. However, it is not a place for fishermen as the lake can only support Brine Shrimp.
Whether you want to experience the unique waters at Little Lake Manitou or just enjoy a regional park that is built with campers in mind you can book your next trip at Manitou and District Regional Park here
