Wakaw Lake Regional Park is this week’s focus for our pick-a-park series, and it’s a popular one! Founded in 1965 and located just over 100 km from Saskatoon and 70 km from Prince Albert, it’s no wonder why it’s a frequent destination for many people.
The name “Wakaw” is a Cree word meaning “crooked,” referencing the shape of its lake. The lake has a boat launch and over 56 boat lots for those looking to enjoy the waters, whether for water sports or fishing. Canoe and kayak rentals are also available.
The park boasts over 150 campsites and features one of the most beautiful 9-hole golf courses in the province, alongside a 3,300-square-foot barrier-free clubhouse called the Crooked Club. People come out from Saskatoon, Prince Albert all over southern Saskatchewan to enjoy the stunning views and vistas off some of the tee boxes. If your family and golfs together and loves camping this hidden gem is the perfect fit for you! Traditional golf a little too taxing? Have some fun with the kids on the mini golf course instead!
The sandy beach on the lake is groomed so swimming lessons or lazy days on the beach are always in season.
Enjoy the summer sun this year surrounded by nature and take some time to explore this charming regional park right in our own backyard.
